Update 1.02 Patch Notes

• Ratty will now travel less horizontally on his own when you are airborne. This should give an overall better sense of control and precision, especially when walking off of objects.
• The Demo will now let you choose your Rat's color at the start.
• The menu now includes full graphics setting options, ability to keybind your dash and walk to custom keys, sensitivity sliders, ambience and rat squeak volume sliders, restart, and quit buttons.
• Various performance optimizations.
• Various spots where objects would block the player camera and causing a jarring effect (such as walking through very tight areas with wood beams or having stone bricks directly above Ratty), have now been adjusted to ensure a smoother experience.
• Various ropes and rope fences on the sides of buildings have been removed to ensure a smoother experience.

July 6, 2024:

New Demo zip available. Adds a welcome text box upon starting that places you in the right spot to begin climbing. Also explains controls, and adds controls text to the options menu. Finally, disabled ragdolling for now because it was the cause of various bugs

You are a rat. You must climb. Reach the top, claim the cheese!

In Rat Climber, you only have one goal: reach the top of the world.

You must navigate vertical labyrinths and make daring jumps, but be careful; one false move and you go tumbling down.

Please note: you don't actually ragdoll during falls, you can control Ratty during falling to partially recover progress. I just like this gif from an early build of the game because it's funny.

There are no stinky collectibles

• Just climb and explore, there's not hundreds of collectibles like typical platformers have. But there may be a secret cheese piece in every world, and something special might happen upon finding them all...
  

Every object has exact, precise collision

• If there's a small hole or ledge, you can probably walk on it or fit inside.
  
• You must think outside the box of traditional platformers and start thinking like a rat to progress up the vertical labyrinth worlds.
  

There are no power ups or unlockable moves

• There are only 3 controls: Jump, dash, and walk.
  

• The dash lets you jump farther and slightly higher. 

• The walk allows for precise movement and prevents you from walking off of ledges. 

If you fall, there's a chance you could recover progress due to the nature of the world having each zone stacked above the previous one, and the fact that you still have some airborne control, but it's not guaranteed.
